Do your kids love pretending to be a fairy? Well, that was a dumb question because everyone, even adults, loves to dress up like a fairy at some point! So, fairy costume never go out of fashion.

Fairies are lovely, fanciful creatures. What girl does not want to be a fairy? Fortunately, with a few key items, you can easily create a low-cost fairy costume. There is little to no sewing required! All you need is a tutu, fairy wings, a flower crown, and some sparkly jewelry. And don't forget the magic wand!

Let’s get into a step by step guide of making this cheap DIY fairy costume today!

Step 1# Fairy Accessories

How to create a great fairy costume? Let’s keep in mind that fairies are free in nature and love grooming their wings. So, there are three basic things you need to accessories the costume - wings, elf-ears and a one-piece dress or two-piece top and flowy skirt. Since fairies fly about in the wilderness, their dress has to be short enough above the knees.

You can also add something in addition, if possible to find in handy. A crown or a wig. Fairies usually don't wear shoes, but you can opt for some plain flats or leather footwear. You can choose colors that are soft, earthy or vivid. Dark colors only if you're a wicked fairy. Pick colors that reflect nature - especially plants and animals.

Step 2# Prepare The Dress

Once you’re done deciding what fairy you want to be, start visiting thrift stores. Look for loose or tight clothes. Corsets and big stitches will look quite festive and rugged. Find out all the fabrics you want. You can use them as accessories or cut them into skirts, cuffs or anklets. Avoid prints and remember to dress in layers for cold weather.

Step 3# Beautify The Wings

You can make a simple crown using fake flowers and a wire that is glued and protected within a ribbon to save your little ones’ heads. You can choose to create beautiful fairy wings with wire, net clothing like from a panty hose and putting some glitter here and there!

The small imperfections of the DIY wing set will make it stand out from the rest. If you want to buy a ready-made one, don’t worry. Get your little princess a 3 piece fairy costume adorned with gold sequins and a beautiful meshed crochet.

Step 4# Make Elf-Ear Headband

If you’re not a crown person, no worries. Make this flower headband yourself with silk flowers, hot glue and plastic elf ears!

It can be a little difficult to position the flowers and leaves, but if you start with leaves and add flowers to that, you can not go wrong. Leave some space near the base of the headband because this is where the ears will be glued. A simple flower barrette adds charm without the need for a crown.

Closing Thoughts

Buy your baby girl a cute 3 piece set of fairy costume or spend some quality time with her to make your DIY piece of art with our guide above. All the giggles and amazing moments will be worth the costume day!
